This eclipse season is different. The last one we had was in April, the beginning of Spring for the northern hemisphere, a time of renewal and blossoming. But now comes September, for the north - an energy of back-to-school. For the southern hemisphere, a time of shaking off winter and blooming into Spring.

Soon, on October 9th, Jupiter will turn retrograde. Our planet of abundance, faith and expansion also has its yearly slow-down, when it moves backwards to help us integrate, consolidate and turn our enthusiasm inwards towards ourselves. Jupiter rules the nakshatra where this Full Moon eclipse is occurring on September 18th. Purva Bhadrapada sits at the edge of Aquarius and Pisces. (p.s - if you know in western astrology you have planets in pisces, you probably have this nakshatra in your chart) it’s a constellation that’s great for dedication, for tapasya or spiritual purification. Where are you focussing your energy? How is that focus helping you reach your chosen desires in life? This is a ruthless nakshatra, as the deity is Aja Ekapada, the one-footed deity.

The lessons of this nakshatra are to pull yourself back from multiple distractions, and into your one chosen focus. It takes immense concentration to stand on one foot. This eclipse will require you to sacrifice and give up on something, in order to truly strengthen one chosen area. Unity of purpose and singular direction are the offering of this eclipse. Purva Bhadrapada’s wisdom is that in order to go deep with something, and create impressive roots, of any endeavour, one must have a singular focus.

What Does This Mean For Us Earthlings?

Use this eclipse to identify what you need to cut away and release. Who, or what do you need to shut the door on, in order to stay firmly on your path towards your chosen goal. Eclipses have a tendency to remove obstacles and clear the path ahead, so the skies will help anyone who could use some encouragement.

This September could be a wonderful time for writers, as the eclipse astrology is boosting creativity. Both Mars and Gemini remain in the sign of Gemini, while Venus is in Chitra nakshatra, a constellation that relates to fine work. The symbol of Chitra is a jewel, so whatever you are working on, channel this opportunity to finesse the details of whatever you are working on. Allow impurities to be chipped away and thrown to the fires of purification. Mercury and the Sun will help anyone who needs to use their voice step into the light and speak their truth. All together, this is a month that rewards those with the courage to aim for perfection, and patiently show up everyday to meet their chosen target.

Where is this eclipse happening? In the Pisces portion of Purva Bhadrapada nakshatra.

When does this eclipse happen? 17th September 19:34 Pacific time.

In What Life Areas Will This Eclipse Show Changes For Me?

Depending on your rising sign, this eclipse will trigger change and/or growth in the house area ruled by both Pisces and Taurus, as Jupiter, the planet ruler of Purva Bhadrapada, is now in Taurus.
